Love

We had a GREAT day yesterday! Some of us took some chili, bread sticks, water, new socks, some clothes and a bag of candy downtown to feed the hungry and poor people of Portland. It is one of the easiest ways to show the love of Jesus and sometimes I believe it is more for our hearts than theirs. I think we managed to feed around 40-50 people in a matter of 30 minutes.
When we have done this, it often makes me pretty speechless. I am thankful for what I have, but also fairly disgusted with myself also. The things that I have found myself complaining about look childish and trivial. All of the extra stuff I have is a gift that I should hold onto very loosely so that someday, if the opportunity presents itself I can hand it over to someone else who might need it or want it. Imagine what this world would look like if we lived as they did in the first church. The poor would have plenty, the hungry would be satisfied, the neglected and sick would be well cared for and the Good News would be spreading like wildfire!
So, take this challenge: feed someone hungry, talk to someone who is lonely, hug someone who is crying, help someone who is hurting. Don't worry, the Lord will give you plenty of opportunities! Love, it is the Lord's most spectacular miracle!
